Do I need a doctor's referral or diagnosis to begin?
No. Speech-language pathologists are able to see clients without a doctor’s prescription. However, a prescription may be necessary if you are wanting to submit your Superbill for reimbursement as an out-of-network provider through your insurance plan.
Do you accept insurance?
We are partnered with The Lactation Network, which works with insurance payers to provide 6 covered lactation visits for you! Use the link below to check if your insurance policy offers covered visits!
Outside of lactation services, we do not accept insurance. We are a cash-based service provider and will accept cash, check, credit/debit card, as well as FSA and HSA cards. If you're interested in submitting self-claims to your insurance, we will gladly provide a “Superbill” with the codes and information you need to work with your individual insurance plan to then potentially receive reimbursement or apply towards your out-of-network deductible. However, we will not have any contact with your insurance company. Payment is required at the time of service.
Can you just look in my child’s mouth to see if there is a tongue tie? Why do I need a full evaluation?
There is more to an oral tie than just how it looks. We will complete a full functional assessment, which will include a physical examination of the seven frenulum, observation of functional tasks (including eating), and consideration of both mother and child symptomology.
I have concerns regarding my child’s feeding skills and/or oral development. What is the process for starting services?
Give us a call today at 419-210-5353 to see if our services are the right match for you. If email works best for you, feel free to email us at stephanie@thrivefeedingandlactation.com, or send us a message on our “Contact Us” page. This allows us to learn more about your child’s needs and discuss your specific concerns more in-depth. We believe your concerns are valid.
Following our initial conversation, we will decide whether or not a comprehensive evaluation is the next best step.
Following an evaluation, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that is appropriate for your infant/child. We will collaborate with you as the caregiver to determine the most suitable plan of care.
How often will we need to come for therapy?
Frequency of visits will vary. We will work together to determine a program frequency that is going to maintain momentum, get results, while also allowing you to balance the demands of your day-to-day life.
Do you host any in-person workshops?
Yes! We currently offer Prenatal Breastfeeding, Starting Solids, and Picky Eating parent workshops. Please see our "Workshops" page for more information.
